Thanksgiving Break is almost here!!!! Just a couple more days until we get to eat turkey and see our families! First things, first...do I really sound like that? Most people hate hearing their voices, and I'm no exception. So I plugged my flash drive containing my talk into my computer, already shaking my head. I watched it through from beginning to end.

I did try to incorporate things we did in class. I added animations to my PowerPoint slides and used the black background so the audience would focus back on me. I also tried to make the visuals match with what I was talking about. Something I would change about my preparation, is trying to narrow down my time. I practiced my speech a couple times and kept coming up with 6 minutes. I did cut out content already before I even got to that point. I feel like next time I need to reevaluate what content is important and what isn't completely necessary.
After watching my TED talk recording, I have lots to say about my performance.
After watching my TED talk recording, I have lots to say about my performance.
My first comments about my own TED talk are in regard to my content. I realized my TED talk didn't seem to make complete sense. I feel like I should have included more research in regards to my topic of identity and how it ties in with Adoptee Dissimilarity. I found lot's of content, but when I was generating my talk, I cut out a lot of content that may have been beneficial to making my talk more coherent. I feel like I added to much personal stories rather than research, I feel like it helped my talk; however, my personal experience seemed to dominate my talk. Some positive things about my content I feel like I knew my content better than my speech from unit one. I found that I also had an easier time coming up with a topic for my TED talk than my speech.
Compared to my first speech, my TED talk was an overall better performance in my opinion. I noticed in my recording that I maintained eye contact with the audience for about 95% of the time. I did notice during one slide that I broke eye contact and stared at what looked like outside the room. I didn't look back at the screen behind me which I think was good. I also didn't reference the computer monitor to my right too much.
My personal opinion is that the talk was mediocre and has lots of room for improvement.
